John's love affair with music began when, as a teenager, a neighbor introduced him to a catalog of songs he didn't know existed. What followed can only be described as a life-long addiction to music.
A visit to a high school radio station planted the seed that perhaps one day he could be on the radio sharing his passion for music.
While attending U of M - Dearborn, John began volunteering at WHFR at Henry Ford Community College and soon became the Folk Music Director for the station.
For nearly 15 years John could be heard as the midday host at ann arbor's 107one, WQKL-FM. A recognizable voice and mainstay in the Ann Arbor music scene, he also had a weekend specialty show called The Sunday Brunch which was syndicated on The Q 94.5 in Grand Rapids as well. He has hosted and interviewed hundreds of artists, from well-known Grammy winners to local favorites.
John's knowledge of music is as expansive and diverse as his collection, allowing him to introduce his audience to new artists and satisfy a craving for old favorites, both over the airwaves and as an event DJ. John's passion for music can only be matched by his love of helping people enjoy and discover the soundtrack to their lives.
Currently, John is behind the scenes at WEMU-FM in Ypsilanti, MI and hosts a podcast and YouTube playlist. More information about Acoustic Alternatives can be found on this site.
